2024 Fundraising Update
Since we began fundraising for Children’s Hospital Colorado after losing Owen almost three years ago, we have collectively raised $250,000 to advance pediatric pulmonary hypertension research. Thanks for your generous contributions! Children’s Hospital and colleagues have used these funds to sponsor a previously unsupported research workshop at the International Conference on Neonatal & Childhood Pulmonary Vascular Disease, co-organized by Dr. John Kinsella, Owen’s primary caregiver during his short life.
Your generosity has brought two guest speakers, Pawel Stankiewicz, the discoverer of the gene mutation that took Owen’s life, and Paul Yu, one of the key figures involved in the development of sotatercept, the first new pulmonary hypertension drug approved for decades. These talks are critical for spreading pulmonary hypertension treatment knowledge across hospitals and care teams.
In addition, Dr. Kinsella is beginning to solicit applications for early-career grants for young researchers studying pulmonary hypertension. The awardees will be selected for the Owen McKinnon Pilot Grant for Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Research by summer 2025. We look forward to learning what they uncover.
Thank you again for your compassion and generosity. We hope to see you at our next event.
